Volunteer Agreement of Understanding
Media Release*
- I hereby grant full permission to Ridge Meadows Recycling Society to use any photographs, motion pictures, videotapes, recordings or any other record of me while I am volunteering for any purpose including, without limitation, commercial use.
Confidentiality
- As a volunteer, I will treat as confidential, and will not publish, release, or disclose any information supplied to, or obtained by me, or which comes to my knowledge, related to individuals who work at the Society or any information that may be sensitive to the Society. I will treat any such information as confidential before, during, and after my time as a volunteer with the Society.
Criminal Record*
- As a volunteer, I will comply with the Society's requirements regarding a criminal record check. I declare that I do not have a criminal record or charges pending that are related to fraudulent, violent, or sexual abuse issues.
Safety*
- While volunteering for the Society I will follow safety guidelines in place at any event or work site. I understand that staff will use their best judgement to ensure that each volunteer will have a positive and safe experience during any participation.
- As a volunteer, I understand that I am representing the Society and I will conduct myself according to the Society's policies.
- I will wear identification while volunteering for the Society.
- I understand that being a volunteer does not entitle me to special consideration in any employment competitions at the Society.
Volunteer Waiver and Release of Liability
By submitting this form online you waive important legal rights. Please read carefully. This agreement must be completed in full before you can take part in volunteering for Ridge Meadows Recycling Society.
Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims and Indemnity Agreement
- I, the volunteer, on behalf of myself, my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators, representatives and assigns, hereby forever waive all claims and release, discharge and hold harmless Ridge Meadows Recycling Society (the “Organizers”), and their representatives and agents including, without limitation, sponsors, directors, contractors, producers, municipal, provincial, federal governing agencies, park governing agencies, and all other entities associated or involved in the organization or staging of events or any other volunteer activities, including, but not limited to, volunteers, third party vendors, all venues in which volunteer activities or segments of volunteer activities are held, and the members, officers, directors, employees, representatives, assigns, affiliates, and agents of any of the above (collectively, the “Releasees”); for any and all losses, costs, causes of action, claims or damages, including any claim for damages for personal injury to my person or personal property damage howsoever caused, arising out of or in connection with my taking part as a volunteer, notwithstanding that the same may have been contributed to or occasioned by, without limitation, the negligence, breach of contract or breach of any statutory or other duty of care of the Organizer, or any of the Releasees.
- I agree not to sue any of the persons or entities mentioned above for any of the claims or liabilities that I have waived, released or discharged herein; and I indemnify and hold harmless the Organizers and Releasees from and against any and all losses, claims, suits, actions, damages or liabilities (including without limitation, legal fees and disbursement on a solicitor and its own client basis) assessed against them as a result of or in connection with my actions during, and in connection with, my role as a volunteer for Ridge Meadows Recycling Society.
Assumption of Risk*
- I acknowledge that I am aware of the possible risks, dangers and hazards associated with volunteering for Ridge Meadows Recycling Society including the possible risk of severe or fatal injury and property loss.
- I hereby assume these risks which include, but are not limited to: the possibility of physical injury to myself and others such as muscle strain, broken bones, concussion, soft tissue damage, infectious diseases, and cardiac arrest.
- I certify that I have not been advised against volunteering by a qualified health professional.
- I acknowledge that the Organizers, permitting me to volunteer for Ridge Meadows Recycling Society, accept my statements on this release waiver.
Consent*
- I consent to having the information in my volunteer agreement collected.
- I hereby affirm that I am sixteen (16) years of age or older, I have read this document, and I understand its contents. I acknowledge that I am signing this waiver voluntarily and that if I am under the age of 18 I require parental consent.
- I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD THIS AGREEMENT AND I AM AWARE THAT BY SUBMITTING THIS AGREEMENT ONLINE I AM WAIVING CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE, WHICH I, OR MY HEIRS, NEXT OF KIN, EXECUTORS, ADMINISTRATORS AND ASSIGNEES, MAY HAVE AGAINST THE ORGANIZERS AND RELEASEES.

- I have read and understood the above waiver, release and indemnity and have discussed the same with the minor person identified and/or signing above. I am satisfied the said minor understands the waiver and release and his/her obligations as set out therein. In consideration of the participation of my minor child/ward I too agree to waive, release and indemnify the Organizers and Releasees in the terms set out above.
- I am aware that by signing this Agreement I am waiving substantial legal rights, which my minor child/ward and I, our respective heirs, executors, administrators and next of kin may have against the Organizers and Releases.
